The Special Educational Needs and Inclusive Practice (SENIP) Foundation Degree (accredited by Kingston University) enables education staff who work with young people with additional educational needs to develop their practice, become part of a strong network and complete year 1 and year 2 of an undergraduate degree
"Completing the degree has given me the confidence to relay back to other members of staff, including managers, new things that I have learnt and why I want to implement them and being able to backup my ideas and knowledge with theory and theorist diagrams."
This two-year foundation degree explores the requirements of the Special Educational Need and Disability (SEND) Code of Practice and considers the voice and needs of the child or young person.
You'll study developmental theories, systems to support learning, legislative frameworks that govern practice, multi-professional perspectives and working with families and carers. You'll develop reflective skills to enable you to consider how to improve practice.
It provides a route into higher education for experienced and committed educators who don't currently have a degree, enabling you to progress from Level 3 to a foundation degree.
You work whilst you study, giving you many opportunities to bring theory directly into your practice and vice versa.
The teaching takes place locally in Feltham, meaning you will join a committed network and community of local early years professionals.
This course enables you to apply for the BA (Hons) top-up course to complete your undergraduate degree and pursue postgraduate opportunities and otherwise enhance your professional development in education and related fields.
We encourage our students to be fully embedded in their EY settings and broader community to deeply ground their practice. We firmly believe that cultivating strong relationships with students, staff and families is crucial.
In 2023/24 the fees for this course are £6,300 (UK students). These tuition fees can be paid using Student Finance for those that are eligible.
